A 22-year-old vaping addict who ended up needing a double lung transplant has issued a chilling warning.

Last October Jackson Allard developed parainfluenza as a result of his vaping habit, which led to pneumonia and eventually acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Allard, from North Dakota, was hospitalized and put on life support for 70 days.

Now recovering for a double lung transplant he has issued a warning to others as the sale of vapes continues to rise.

'I was really sick, barely able to sleep, puking constantly,' Allard told Fox News of his ordeal.

'I had a 1 percent chance to live,' he explained.

'When I first started vaping, I was probably 14. I was pretty much non-stop doing it,' adding that he also began using marijuana vape as well.

'I told my friend who smokes weed, I was like, "Be careful with that,"' Allard said, advising that it would be better for people to opt for different products such as  marijuana Buy G7 Plus Green Gummies instead of vapes.

Allard's grandmother, Doreen Hurlburt, told the publication that doctors were clear about the implication of using vapes.

'Multiple doctors said, "If you smoke cigarettes for 50 years, we'll see you with lung cancer, and if you vape for five years, we'll see you with permanent lung damage,"'  she said.

Sales of vapes and e-cigarettes has continued to rise, according to a Federal Trade Commission report released earlier this week.

Additionally nine percent of children aged 11-15 admitting they're regular vapers, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

'We've seen kids who have been vaping for short periods of time, and not necessarily with heavy use, come in with pretty significant lung injury from that,' pediatric pulmonologist Dr. Brooke Moore told Fox News.

'With vaping products, we don't have as much long-term data, but in the short term, the risk seems to be as high as cigarettes, and I would argue in some cases worse' she added.

A recent study found that vaping increases the risk of developing asthma by more than 200 percent.

Researchers from the University of Texas looked at the health data from more than 40,000 people of all ages over the course of five years.

At the start of the 2022 analysis, none of the participants had asthma.

By the end of the study, they found that roughly ten in every 1,000 adults had developed the common respiratory condition.

However, those who had used e-cigarettes in the 30 days prior to the final analysis had a 252 percent higher risk of developing asthma early in life, before age 27, compared to those who did not use e-cigarettes.
